All of you must have come across some real life hero, who was extraordinarily brave, however did not wear his underwear over his pants like Superman. You might call him the true blue Himmatwalla, who must have grown up drinking the ‘apni maa ka doodh’ brand milk. But, these are ordinary people with extraordinary determination, who save lives in danger without any selfish intent like the local heroes who helped people during the Uttarakhand floods, Nepal Earthquakes.
However, there are some other set of people who attempt something very dangerous in the name of bravery and in the process risk their own lives as well as the lives of others. People let’s admit the fact that there is no bravery in driving your bike with both your hands off the handle. It’s not a hands-free device folks; you will have to use your hands till your bike gets possessed by some ghost like in the movie “Tarzan, the wonder car”. It might give you momentary thrill, but putting your life at risk for fun is like gorging on jalebis when you are dying of diabetes. This surely does not count as being brave.
We all might want to be a Spiderman and save the world from evil, but let’s get down to reality, you can’t fly dude. Also, you are not dating Kristen Dunst!!! If you feel you are fast enough to cross the signal before the red light turns on, you might be setting a bad example in front of your kids. Such stupidity can cost you a lot more in exchange of two seconds of adrenaline rush.
So the key to not being stupid is to remember that you should not try to act like Perseus – the son of Zeus. He could live through the ‘Clash of the Titans’ because he was the son of the God. Okay, according to the religious books we are all divine but the reality is that we can’t even pull off an ‘Argument of the Titans’. Because believe it or not, the Gods are much busier handling the affairs of heaven than helping you jump skyscrapers. Bravery is far more profound than performing some stupid stunts. It requires a commitment to save lives and help others responsibly. If you still don’t get this fact right, then you should try pissing on an open circuit wire. That will make you understand the difference between courage and idiocy.
