YOUTH : Real wealth of nation

“Youth is the best time to be rich, and the best time to be poor”

Yes, this is true that the best time to gain success and use up the opportunities in our life is youth and one wrong step in youth life will lead you to fall in a pit.

“Good habits formed at youth make all the difference.” We should not waste our youth in just growing up. The ones who are famous for their good work did not just grow; they used the opportunities which come in their life to earn fame. Fame is the thirst of youth.

“Youth smiles without any reason, it is one of its chief charms.”The pride and honor of a nation lies in the hands of youth only. Strong, responsible and determined youth prove to be an asset for the nation, others are a liability, and their idle time is a liability for the nation.

“Old men declare war, but youth fights and dies.” This teaches us to be strong and responsible. Youth are meant to fight against social evils or anything wrong. They are obliged to take a step forward which is right to right not wrong.

“Youth is a blunder, manhood struggle and old age is regret”

The Virtuous-Mr. Bai Fang Li

In 1987, a Chinese 74 year old Pedicab driver (rickshaw puller) by the name of Bai Fang li came back to his hometown planning to retire from his back breaking job. There, he saw children working in the fields, because they were too poor to afford school fees.Bai returned to Tianjin and went back to work as a rickshaw puller, taking a modest accommodation next to the railway station. He waited for clients 24 hours a day, ate simple food and wore discarded second hand clothes he found. He gave all of his hard earned earnings to support children who could not afford education. In 2001, he drove his rickshaw to Tianjin Yao Hua Middle school, to deliver his last installment of money. Nearly 90 year old, he told the students that he couldn’t work anymore. All students and teachers were moved to tears. In total, Bai had donated a total of 350,000 Yuan (today 3,580,430 Indian Rs.) to help more than 300 poor students continue with their studies. In 2005, Bai passed away leaving behind an inspiring legacy. If a Rickshaw puller who wore used clothes and had no education can support 300 children to go to school, imagine what you and I can do with the resources we have to bring about positive change in our world.

BE BRAVE but NOT STUPID

All of you must have come across some real life hero, who was extraordinarily brave, however did not wear his underwear over his pants like Superman. You might call him the true blue Himmatwalla, who must have grown up drinking the ‘apni maa ka doodh’ brand milk. But, these are ordinary people with extraordinary determination, who save lives in danger without any selfish intent like the local heroes who helped people during the Uttarakhand floods, Nepal Earthquakes.

However, there are some other set of people who attempt something very dangerous in the name of bravery and in the process risk their own lives as well as the lives of others. People let’s admit the fact that there is no bravery in driving your bike with both your hands off the handle. It’s not a hands-free device folks; you will have to use your hands till your bike gets possessed by some ghost like in the movie “Tarzan, the wonder car”. It might give you momentary thrill, but putting your life at risk for fun is like gorging on jalebis when you are dying of diabetes. This surely does not count as being brave.

We all might want to be a Spiderman and save the world from evil, but let’s get down to reality, you can’t fly dude. Also, you are not dating Kristen Dunst!!! If you feel you are fast enough to cross the signal before the red light turns on, you might be setting a bad example in front of your kids. Such stupidity can cost you a lot more in exchange of two seconds of adrenaline rush.

So the key to not being stupid is to remember that you should not try to act like Perseus – the son of Zeus. He could live through the ‘Clash of the Titans’ because he was the son of the God. Okay, according to the religious books we are all divine but the reality is that we can’t even pull off an ‘Argument of the Titans’. Because believe it or not, the Gods are much busier handling the affairs of heaven than helping you jump skyscrapers. Bravery is far more profound than performing some stupid stunts. It requires a commitment to save lives and help others responsibly. If you still don’t get this fact right, then you should try pissing on an open circuit wire. That will make you understand the difference between courage and idiocy.
